Today is the last official day of Summer. Which is #devastating in its own right (re-tweet that). But I am not to sad, fall is the unofficial season of fashion for me. With the return of colder temperatures I find myself being able to rock sick jackets and long-sleeves with no fear of heat exhaustion (or sweat stains). I do hate the fact that I have to ease up on wearing my favorite sneakers (VANS) but all is not lost. Fall also brings the return of BOOTS! Boots are my shit. A full-sized LEGO house is being built. The builder a Mr. James May, a toy fanatic from the UK, is buiding a real two-story house completely out of legos. It will take around 816 million Lego bricks to complete. And when the house is finished, James May promised to live in it for a short bit!
"This two-story Lego palace, which resides in the middle of a vineyard, sports a working bathroom, and is covered inside and out with bricks." Looks like Dee and his twin have a lot of catching up to do.

Whitney Houston's finally BACK! Her performance on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ on Tuesday morning in New York City was not the best performance in the world but it definitely proved to be a different Whitney than we have seen in the last 7 years. ACCORDING TO REPORTS, the singer’s voice was a little off while performing the 3 song gig and she said this to the crowd: “I’m so sorry. I did ‘Oprah,”‘ Houston said. “I’ve been talking for so long. … I talked so much, my voice … . I shouldn’t be talking. I should be singing.” It was obvious that she struggled a bit while singing. She kept letting the audience sing alot of the songs, also she did not sing very challenging songs. Most people have been saying that if Whitney knew she was going to be performing she should have done the Oprah interview some other day, not right before GMA. I agree. But I still believe that Whitney's moment was still spectacular. And the album is GREAT! Whitney is a woman of "a certain age" and the music definitely lets that be known. A classic R&B album, filled with love songs and songs of overcoming her struggles. Whitney connects with each emotion on each track in a different way. Some of my favorite songs on the album are "Nothin But Love", "Call You Tonight", "For the Lovers" and "I Look to You". Im in love with Whitney Houston. Most of you guys know my obsession with Beyonce, but the love for Whitney goes so much deeper. She is my favorite singer of all time and stars in my favorite movie of all time "The Bodyguard". You guys definitely have to go buy her CD along with the Trey Songz album "Ready". Both are DOPE! Best Buy has them to $9.99.

Se we both agree that the shoes they make are cool its just that paying $300 + for some sneaks that are glorified chuck taylors doesn't make that much sense to either of us. He then mention how "Generic Man" is just Common Projects with out the price tag.... so of course I had to do a little research. Meet Dougie Doug (A.K.A. Douglas) student at Kean University and all around fly guy. We haven't done a "Your Gasconade" post in a minute, so when I decided to do one, Doug was the first person I thought about. When I asked Doug about his style here's what he had to say.

Tashon: Whats your style?
Doug: "My style various due to seasons, my mood and the statement I am going for. I might go "beach boy surfer" if its hott out and I am around my shore. Or if I am koolin at a friends house I might be on some cali laid bak skinny jeans, fitted and dunks. If I'm out around town I have Polo on or louie. If i'm out to eat or with the family I go for the GQ look, "grown man" because First impression is everything in this world..and you wont get past a hello or Hi how are you if they dont agree with what you have on.
Tashon: What are some of your favorite brands?
Doug: Some of my Favorite brands are..the hundreds..Supreme..Brooklyn circus.. ray ban and oakley. The high end brands i love are louie and when i say louie i love their produts not just the symbol LV, ralph lauren and latley been doin my brooks brother thing some desingers i like range from wild work done by Terry Richardson to elegance of Tom Ford.
Tashon: Celebrity style?
Doug: i like pharrell and kanye for thinkin out the box even though i feel the fashon world is usin kanye west as a puppet to get there high end fashion out to the urban world..rihanna and lady gaga are some bad a** chicks man
Tashon: What are some of your favorite style blogs?

It seems like Chris Brown will finally get the chance to tell his side of the story. Chris Brown was seen leaving Larry King’s show August 28th/29th. Several sources say that Joyce, Chris’s mother attended the interview along with Mark Geragos, Chris’s attorney. CNN confirms that the interview with Chris Brown will air on Sept. 2. Time is unknown. This is definately must see TV. Now we just need Rihanna to do a interview with Oprah, and this relationship could be EPIC.

Beyonce appears in the the brand new L'Oreal ad for Holiday 2009. I like the ad alot. It look a little Mariah Carey "Emancipation of Mimi" but ehh it works. She not that small though.

In other Beyonce new's she has been named Woman of the Year by Billboard magazine. According to the magazine "The singer has enjoyed another year of stellar successes after last year, with smash hit songsSingle Ladies and If I Were A Boy, a number one album, a sold-out world tour, and an invite to sing at US President Barack Obama's inauguration this year, reports billboard.com.

So after the flop of the single "Obsessed", Mariah Carey has decided that the official first single will be “I Want to Know What Love Is”. The song is a remake of the 80s classic originally performed by The Foreigners. Mariah is coming out SWINGING! Im guessing with the strong comeback of Whitney and the bad press around the situation between her and Eminem, Carey decided to show the hoes she can really blow. It amazes me that she can still sing so well on a record but cant perform live to save her life. These past few performances, Ive felt like I was watching someone commit vocal suicide. She looks uncomfortable, nervous and just wack. Not to mention PLUMP. Nonetheless I really like this song. It's your typical "power ballad". Slow, about love, starts off soft and gentile then ends with her taking us to church. Listening to it, you can just picture like 3 fat black background singers, sweating and singing their heart out. Random.

Two Tickets and A Dream

Two night's ago (Aug 25th) Melanie Fiona the R&B sensation from Canada performed at S.O.B.’s. The Gasconade couldn't attend, but were told it was an incredible show. Reviews from the concert raved that Melanie was a phenomenal singer. She performed songs from her debut album "The Bridge" which is set to be released on September 22nd. I feel in love with Melanie from her mixtape with Questlove. Songs like "Monday Morning", "Cupid" and her remake of Kanye West's "Heartless" gave me chills when I first listened to them. Fiona credits Whitney Houston as one of her idols, and it's clear, because just like Whitney, Melanie can Sangggggg.

She was born to to Guyanese immigrant parents and grew-up in the inner city of Toronto. The songtress grew up living in a music-filled household and Melanie says that from an early age she knew music was her passion. Her father was a guitarist in a band and would allow her to sit on the stage when she was younger as he practiced. Fiona also recalls her mother’s wide range of music taste; playing everything from The Ronettes to Whitney Houston in the house when she was younger.

She has been tipping around the city making bold statements with the denim choices she makes. Today was no different. She wore the Paige Premium denim "Skyline 10″ skinny in Cosmos, a custom wash made specially for her with heavy destruction and black paint splatters. The jeans are one-of-a-kind, made exclusively for the singer. I love the acid wash denim vest with the white Paige skinnys.
